The Winnetka mathematics curriculum incorporates practice standards within the content standards.  The practice standards extend across all grade levels.

Some of the math skills covered in second grade are:

• recognizing and writing numbers up to 1000

• recognizing two and three dimensional shapes

• linear measurement using the English and Metric systems

• telling and writing time to 5 minute intervals

• recognizing coins and counting money

• writing and solving addition and subtraction number stories

• adding two-digit numbers with regrouping

• subtracting two-digit numbers with regrouping

• interpreting and graphing data

 

By the end of the year, children should know addition and subtraction facts up to 9+9 with

automaticity.
