Science

In second grade, science is integrated into all curriculum areas. The students experience science through our theme units as well as hands-on experiments. These units are organized under three main branches of science as follows:

Social Studies

In second grade, social studies is integrated into all curriculum areas. These studies all center around developing a greater understanding of community.  The studies and activities can be organized under three main guiding questions as follows:

• Setting up classroom communities and establishing norms and expectations

• Understanding the characteristics and factors that shape Winnetka

• Comparing Winnetka with other communities around the globe

 

What factors influence changes in a community over time?
